What The Environment Association (TEA)
is and does.
The Environment Association [TEA], a community based
non-profit volunteer organisation since 1990, provides information and
assistance to community members, and works in the public interest on
environment issues. TEA campaigns in northern Tasmania to improve environmental outcomes
locally and globally, and works towards the
conservation of nature; encompassing issues such as recycling, organic
gardening, alternatives for renewable energy and conservation, ecological sustainability
of community, land use and industry, biodiversity, forest
conservation, forestry practices, water catchments, chemical use, 1080
poison, landscape and amenity values.
We promote our long-standing joint proposal for a Great Western
Tiers National Park. TEA also operates an environment
centre and holds activities at Environment House in Deloraine.
TEA is run entirely by volunteers.
As TEA receives no regular funding from either the state or federal
governments, it relies entirely on fundraising events and the
generosity of its members and supporters for its financial
well-being. Donations are gratefully received. If you wish to make
a donation, please send a cheque.
Day to day activities are
carried out by the Management Team made up of members elected at an
annual general meeting. There is plenty of scope for members to
participate, and new members and casual volunteers are always welcome.
We are also holding social and educational events. See more details of
coming events and recent newsletters on our news
page.
If you have a problem or a query about an environment issue we may be
able to assist.
If you want to join
us, help out, or know more about TEA then please feel
free to contact us. The Environment Association welcomes new
members and volunteers.
