To encompass and promote an ethic of caring and
respect for the earth and all life and including a commitment to the
principle of equality regardless of sex, age, disability, race,
political or sexual preferences or religion.

To promote an understanding of the natural
environment in the local and broader community.

To advocate the conservation of Tasmania’s natural
vegetation, fauna and important geological, natural and
archaeological features of Tasmania, as well as the cultural
heritage and landscapes of the region.

To encourage the protection of biological diversity and
the retention and maintenance of all surviving indigenous species,
ecological processes and systems.

To encompass and encourage the principles: Reduce,
Reuse, Recycle, and the precautionary principle, intergenerational
equity, environmental justice and the principle that the burden of
proof rests with proponents and developers.

To stimulate interest in environmental and
conservation issues at a local, regional and national level.

To encourage involvement of people within the
community in projects and campaigns to improve the local, regional,
national and international environment.

To encourage, promote and work towards the
protection and enhancement of the natural environment on a local,
regional and national level.

To educate and encourage the local and broader
community to adopt more holistic and environmentally sensitive
practices.

To collect, collate and disseminate information of a
scientific, political and social nature that relates to or impacts
on the environment.

To establish, manage and sustain a centre to
facilitate participation and activities related to the environment,
by individuals and groups within the local and broader community.

To provide support through affiliation to such
groups whose objects and purposes are consistent with those of the
Association and upon agreement of said groups to abide, where
appropriate, with the rules of this constitution and any policies
set by the Association.

To keep the members informed on a regular basis of
the activities of the Association and its affiliated groups.

To be actively involved in projects for the
rehabilitation and protection of the natural environment.
-
To provide advice and assistance in respect to
specific proposals, conservation projects, and undertakings, including research
and management of private and public land, parks, reserves and sanctuaries.

To work for law reform to improve environmental
protection and sustainability and that will facilitate community
participation and Government openness and accountability.

The Association remain free of affiliation with any
political party.

The Association will operate as a non-profit
organisation.

To establish and maintain a public fund to be called
The Environment Association Public Fund for the specific purpose of
supporting the environmental objectives and purposes of the
Association. The Fund is established to receive all gifts of money
or property for this purpose and any money received because of such
gifts must be credited to its bank account. The Fund must not
receive any other money or property into its account and it must
comply with subdivision 30-E of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997.

To represent the environment for its own sake and
also to represent the views of the membership where they are
consistent with the objects of the Association.

To recognise the urgency and threat of dangerous
human induced global climate change and advocate massive carbon
emissions reduction and community education on the issue.
